WMH announced this weekend that they will shortly decide on the locations of the 2026 Championships.
Belgium and the Netherlands are awaiting the decision on whether their joint bid, which was submitted in May, will be awarded to them.
Two national associations (KBHB & KNHB) have collaboratively submitted a proposal to host the entire World Championship for all participating teams within one timeframe. Given that this event would involve over 300 teams, they have carefully prepared an exceptionally detailed bid to address all possible concerns. Feedback from previous World Championships has been thoroughly considered and addressed in the proposal. The BEL/NED Bid Committee is pleased to present, what is believe to be, both Nations’ most comprehensive and robust bid to date.
For the Masters World Cup 2026, six clubs in Belgium and the Netherlands have carefully coordinated local events, carefully selected a provider for livestream, and obtained support from National Associations for officials and umpires. But most importantly alle events are scheduled in the weeks prior to the FIH World Championships. Based on the potential and available timeframe, the decision was made by all involved parties to prepare a Bid to host the full tournament in the weeks ahead of the FIH World Cup. This would allow all participants as well as fans and officials the opportunity to enjoy the FIH World Cup afterwards. Furthermore, to allow all to enjoy seeing friends and family across all age categories.
FIH is thrilled with our plans which were not only valued to be attractive on the pitch and allowed for off-pitch side events. We are of course committed to support initiatives from any country in their ambition to organise future international tournaments by facilitating expert workshops that share our experiences from organising the 2026 event. Through these initiatives, we aim to help strengthen and enhance the quality of WMH and all National Masters Associations interested in hosting upcoming tournaments, ensuring collective knowledge transfer and continued growth in global participation.
We dream to welcome everybody, all levels, all fans, all officials to the excellent facilities (we heard your feedback, only water-based pitches and no late-night matches) in the optimum timeframe to meet and greet old and new friends.
We stand ready to welcome you all, please join us and come to celebrate hockey together!
Imagine the vibrant atmosphere as teams from across the globe descend upon our neighbouring nations, uniting not only for world-class competition but also for celebration, learning, and community. The prospect of hosting over 300 teams promises an extraordinary festival of hockey—an unprecedented convergence of experience, passion, and national pride.
Beyond the matches themselves, our bid envisions a championship alive with cultural exchanges, expert-led seminars, and innovative side events designed to leave a legacy far beyond 2026. Through collaboration and shared vision, we hope to set a new standard for inclusivity and excellence in the world of Masters Hockey, fostering connections that endure long after the final whistle.
As we await the decision, our excitement grows. The prospect of welcoming the world, of showcasing our hospitality, and of building a championship remembered for its unity and excellence, inspires us to dream bigger. Let the countdown begin, as we stand ready to deliver an unforgettable event for the entire hockey family.
